► A Tribute To P. Ramlee
October 31, 2010 @ 10:41 PM
![]() I've just watched a biography of the late P. Ramlee on History Channel. They were talking about how he became popular from a humble boy. The two-hour show really touched me cause they told us about his life, his carreer and his character. He was a good man. He helped others, even when he's in a difficult state himself. There was one part when Mdm Mariani, P. Ramlee's sister-in-law, said that there was a guy who came to P. Ramlee and said that he doesn't have any money and have to go back to Penang cause his mother was ill. At that time, P. Ramlee had only $200 in his pocket, for him and his family. Without any hesitation, he slipped into his pocket and gave the whole $200 to the poor man. Mind you, he was facing some money problem at that time too. Just look at how giving and kind hearted he was. I bet if we're in his position, we would atleast give the man $100. Cause we think of ourselves too much. He's such a great person to look up to and be admired. Not only for his melodic voice and great acting, for his character as well. His movies like, Seniman, Pendekar BL and Bujang Lapok, Madu Tiga, Tiga Abdul, Labu Labi and more, they are in fact good movies. Great. The actors' character may be funny but at the same time, they are trying to convey a message. For example, Tiga Abdul teaches us not to be greedy. Don't boast to others about what you have. Be humble and god willing, luck will be on your side. His movies are the best. I've watched Bujang Lapok countless times and I guess I've memorised the script. Hehe! A few years before his life was about to end, he's facing tons of problems. Friends turned their backs on him, fans stopped supporting him and he even had normal meals, like rice and an egg, eventhough his name was at the top nationwide. That made me teared up cause he was so popular yet he's only able to have such meals. What's even sadder was that when he passed away, his family was in a state of destitute. But luckily, one of their closed friends helped to cover the expenses for the funeral. If he was still alive right now, I bet he'll be treated like a king, a legend. I can't stop saying that he's a great man, cause in actual fact he is. His stories will live on, his songs will live on and his dialogues will live on forever. My family and cousins loved his movies and his dialogues are a must-use. Sometimes it just fits in our conversation. Allahyarham P. Ramlee, you are a great man. Semoga Allah mencucuri rahmat atas rohmu dan tempatkannya di kalangan orang-orang yang beriman. Amin. Al-Fatehah.
