► No Longer A Student
March 2, 2016 @ 10:26 PM
I've been wanting to update this dusty place for so long, but every time I thought of it, I didn't seem to find time to actually whip out my laptop and sit down and start blogging. Anyway, I doubt anyone reads it so its aight I guess. But for memories sake, I will! Hehe.
Issit too late now (to say sorry) to wish a Happy New Year?! Haha, I guess. It's already the third month of 2016 man. How fast time flies. March, my favourite month of the year. Yknow usually people say that cause it's their birthday month, as for me...... yeah I'm one of them heh! Also, 2016 is the year where I'll be graduating. Graduating from Poly. I'll be getting my diploma, oh my goodness. I'm no longer a student! I'm no longer a child! Its time for me to grow up, and be an adult. The time is finally here guys, and I'm not gonna lie its actually quite scary. But hey, time stops for no one so I guess I just gotta live with it.
For memories sake once again, I wanna talk about my internship. So I was being sent to a local company for internship, who does some media things that I was also involved in when I was doing my specialisation in my third year. I was attached for 3 months. That was my first time experiencing a real working life. Like, a legit one. Definitely different than student life. You're basically on your own. That aside, I did learn a few things while I was working there, or in general.
- Lunch - Girl, you seriously can burn a huge hole if you keep spending on food for your lunch. Which is why sometimes I bring my own lunch from home. Not only saves some moolahs, but also doesn't tire you from walking in and out of the office. (Because sometimes I is lazy too)
- Talk/Communicate - I think this is the important thing. Not sure of what to do? Ask. Not sure of how to do? Ask. Working life is different than school life, where you're being fed with information and knowledge by your teachers and lecturers. In working life you gotta be the one going around desperate for knowledge. So, I guess the more you ask the more it shows what kinda person you are. Which is something good, if you ask me.
- Make use of your long hours of traveling time to work - If you don't know, the place that I was attached to was totally at the opposite end of where I stay. So to be honest, I did worry about what I'm gonna do when I travel to work. Indeed, I did sync music to my phone but then again, it can be quite a bore to be listening the same ones every day. And I don't have that many songs too (life of a 16GB iPhone user). So, most of the times I didn't listen to songs when I travel back home. I take that time to relax, enjoy the view from the MRT window, look at people, look at how they dress, their attitude, think about the future, think about the past, think about people and more. Also sometimes I download and converted some ceramahs off youtube and listen to it too. You're gaining some knowledge at the same time kan, which is always good!
- Act busy - Don't get me wrong. I love it when there isn't much work for me to complete and I can just relax and not get too stressed up. But sometimes, it is very tiring and difficult to act like you're busy when you're not. Especially when the boss is around or your colleagues keep walking behind you. You can't be showing them the video you're watching on youtube right? You gotta switch between the 3970874 tabs your have on your browser to act like you're doing some research or jotting down some ideas for future projects. Which is why (sometimes) I prefer to be busy with actual tasks/projects than to act busy hehe.
Ok that's a few I could think of currently. Didn't expect to write some long ones but hey, in 2-3 years time I can look back and read about my internship experience right. All in all, it was fun working there. Though it can be quite stressful but at the same time, its a very proud moment when you see your work being projected on an actual building for a real life project. Like, wow. Definitely miss school, but the feeling has lessen. Can't wait for graduation day so I get to meet everyone :)
